Welcome to Denshinkan!

Kendo is the way of the sword. It is one of Japan's oldest martial arts and is now practised across the world by men and women of all ages.

Here at Denshinkan, the Cardiff Met Kendo society, we are building a club of new starters (or experienced members) as an introduction to Kendo and to take part in the University championships held each year in the UK.

However, Kendo is not purely about competing, it is a means and a way to improve yourself through the application of what are referred to as the ‘principles of the sword’.  By practicing kendo you will gain better coordination, improved self-confidence, improved focus and concentration, fitness and self-control.

Kids Classes

Great news, our children’s classes have started up again! We are running from 7.30-8.30pm at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Sophia Gardens, Cathedral Road in the Fitness Studio on Tuesday Evenings.

Adult Classes

Adult classes are back temporarily at the Welsh Institute of Sports, Sophia Gardens. Please see the schedule below:

Thursday 7pm - 9pm (Adult beginners classes - please contact us for more information).

Sunday 10am - 12pm (Adult senior classes)

All adult classes will be £5 per session to help the club cover the costs of hiring the venue. Once back at the university, we will revert back to our usual extremely cheap fees! But for now, while we are at this temporary venue, we will require payment for each session.
